Adochi Adochi - Description of the Artworks Talking about the "absence of the objects" by looking at his paintings of the nineties, Adochi described the importance of the space between the elements in these paintings. The canvases had been structured with several layers of a very transparent and delusive mixture of casein and pigments to give the impression of "shimmering water surface". The drawn elements went to the edges of the paintings in order to give the viewer even more freedom to perceive the free optical spatial fluctuation.   The new works are much more concrete. The floating character of the traces and shades makes way for clearly divided color fields. Saturated earthy colors are joined together, accompanied by the same playful canon of forms that allows associations of floral ornaments, bodies, landscapes and architectures. But now, the strong geometrical form that seems to dominate the picture, gives hold to these drawn elements.   Exploration of space is still the philosophical and artistically interest of Adochi. Concerning the recent works, there is a new static element represented by the geometric structure of the color field. And still there is this fluctuation appearing through the floral elements. Paradoxically that contrast even increases the perception of motion. The pictorial space, determined by static geometry, finds his completion in the playful movement of the elements.
